Chiral Symmetry and Quark Connnement
نویسنده
چکیده
In the physical vacuum of QCD, the energy density of light-quark elds strongly coupled to slowly varying gluon elds can be negative, and so a condensate of pairs of quarks and antiquarks of nearly opposite momenta forms which breaks chiral symmetry, connnes quarks, and makes gluons massive.

In the physical vacuum of QCD, the energy density of light-quark elds strongly coupled to slowly varying gluon elds can be negative. The states that drive this energy density lowest are condensates of pairs of quarks and antiquarks of nearly opposite momenta. These quark-antiquark condensates break chiral symmetry. They may also aaect other features of hadronic physics, such as the range of the...
متن کاملThermodynamic Properties of a Simple, Connning Model
We study the equilibrium thermodynamics of a simple, connning, DSE-model of 2-avour QCD at nite temperature and chemical potential. The model has two phases: one characterised by connnement and dynamical chiral symmetry breaking; and the other by their absence. The phase boundary is deened by the zero of the vacuum-pressure diierence between the connned and deconnned phases. Chiral symmetry res...
متن کاملConnnement, Crossing Symmetry, and Glueballs
It is suggested that the quark-connning force is related by crossing symmetry to a color-singlet glueball G which is well described as a loop of one quantum of color magnetic ux. Electron pair annihilation as high as 2GeV above the mass could produce ! ` + ` ? accompanied by G or one of its excited states.
متن کاملPossible Pseudogap Phase in QCD
Thermal pion fluctuations, in principle, can completely disorder the phase of the quark condensate and thus restore chiral symmetry. If this happens before the quark condensate melts, strongly-interacting matter will be in the pseudogap state just above the chiral phase transition. The quark condensate does not vanish locally and quarks acquire constituent masses in the pseudogap phase, despite...
متن کاملChiral Symmetry in an Extended Constituent Quark Potential Model
The chiral symmetry is applied to an extended constituent quark potential model. With random phase approximation (RPA), a small component effect is added to the constituent quark model. To obtain the pseudoscalar π meson as a Goldstone boson, the quark effective potentials are modified in the model to account for the dynamical breaking of chiral symmetry. Also the vector ρ meson is calculated a...
